The 2009 lecture will be given by Gerry Dukes Leading Irish author, editor, and University of Limerick lecturer on Beckett
“‘Are They All Still Asleep Over There?’: Beckett’s Cultural Politics”
By “unpacking” certain key passages from Beckett’s early English and French language fictions
and drawing on his prose and dramatic works from the latter part of his career,
his complex relationship with his two cultures—Irish and French—becomes apparent.
