Professional Experience
Documentary films - script and directing - a selection:
WAR PHOTOS - 2002. A series of six short films, 8 minutes each, all of them composed from still photos. The series deals with the horror of war & its consequences. It was produced & broadcast in Channel 2 - Israel. The series participated in the Input 2003 project as a 48 min. videofilm.
 
LUCIANO BERIO  2000, 59 min. video. A portrait of the Italian composer Luciano Berio, highlighting the artistic & musical issues Maestro Berio deals with and reflects upon. Produced by Belshir International Inc with Arte  Zdf, Orf, Channel 8  Israel, Ga&Ga Italy, & Gravity Post Production. The film was screened on Arte, Orf and the Channel 8 in Israel. The film participated in FIPA (Biaritz-France), in the International Festival of Films on Art (Montreal, Canada) & was screened during 2001 in the Washington Smithsonian Museums. Recently (2004) it was screened in the Royal Academy of Music  London, UK.
 
CHAMBERS  1999, 45 min. video. A documentary film about a gathering of youngsters from Israel, Jordan, and the Palestinian Authority. The film was screened in Israel on Channel 8.
 
PAWNS  1997 (directing and photographing), 57 min. video. A documentary film of closely following a company of paratroopers during two years of operational activity in Lebanon, Hebron and again in Lebanon. The film deals with an ongoing hidden war in which the soldiers are engaged, with the peace process in the background. The film was screened in Israel on Channel 2, and was presented in FIPA (International Film Festival) in Biarritz 1998.
 
THE DIVIDING LINE  1997, 56 min. video. A documentary film about the 67 Six Day War. The film was produced for the Israeli Television as part of the series Revival (to mark the 50th anniversary of Israels independence). The film was produced by Belfilms, and was screened in the Israeli Television.
 
THE NIGHT OF WINGATE  1995, 30 min. video. The story of one night in 1946 when Holocaust survivor immigrants, on the illegal boat Wingate, attempted to break through the British blockade. The film focuses on one young woman, Bracha Phold, who was killed in the operation.
 
KRZYSTOF PENDERECKI  1995, 56 min. video. A documentary about the life and work of the Polish composer Penderecki. The film was a joint production of the Israeli and Polish Television, and was filmed in Israel and Poland. It was presented at the Music Film Festival in Praha. The film was screened on Israeli and Polish Television.
 
YOM KIPPUR  1993, 45 min. video. A documentary about the personal aftermath of war, presenting soldiers, from a variety of social, geographical and biographical backgrounds, who fought in the 73 war. Twenty years after the war they are all still marked and traumatized by that war. Produced by Belfilms, screened on Israeli cable.
 
DON GIOVANNI  1994, 54 min. video. A documentary film following the production of Don Giovanni by professionals of the Israeli Opera, and by students in The Music Academy in Jerusalem. The film was produced by and screened on the Israeli Television.
 
AVI ROTSTEIN  1993, 30 min. video. A profile of a young man at the peak of his career. The officer Avi is the commander of the Ramalla Brigade, based in the West Bank. The film was produced and screened as part of the television series Portraits, on the Israeli Television.
 
STARTUPS  1992, 30 min. 16mm film. A portrait of founders of sophisticated hi-tech startup companies in Israel. The film was screened on the Israeli Television.
 
WHO WILL CARRY THE HEBREW GUN?  1991, 60 min. video. A documentary on the creation of the Palmach (the pre-state Jewish underground strike force). The film was screened on the Israeli Television.
 
THE PORT OF ASHDOD  1990, 25 min. video. A documentary film about the workers at the sea-port of Ashdod - new immigrants from India, Morocco and Greece, who joined together to build a port in the 50s.
 
BOKITO  1984, (directing and photographing with Shelev Vyness), 30 min. 16 mm film. A documentary film about the war in Lebanon. The film was screened in Israel on the Channel 2 and on cable channels, and abroad on the Dutch Television and in France at the Parisian Cinematheque. The film won the 1984 Award for the Best Documentary Film in Israel.
 
Films in process
GO IN PEACE RAIN  Script writing, directing & producing. A documentary following the metamorphosis of an ancient Jewish melody. A voyage in time & space reflecting the place of music in the dynamic culture of the Jewish people. The film is now in the shooting stage. It is produced for cable Channel 8 in Israel.
 
HEART MURMUR  Directing & co-writing of script. A feature film based on the novel of the same title written by Joshua Kenaz. The script was written together with Dover Kozashvilli and is now in the final stage of the Israeli Cinema Fund project.
