Art, Protest And Democracy | A Series Of Wednesday Evening Online Talks | Art

Over the past few decades, we have witnessed changes in the ways in which democracy is conceptualized and practiced, leading to the ongoing weakening of democracies around the world. 
Faced with the global pandemic, the notion of democracy is being further challenged as leaders worldwide enforce restrictive new rules and regulations under the rubric of a “state of emergency”.

This situation raises numerous questions:

- How should art, artists and researchers respond to the assault on democracy?

- How does it affect art? What is the place of digital and social media in the arts and in substantiating democracy?

- Should and how can the arts participate in the discussion of democracy today? And will it make any difference?
