הרצאה במסגרת הקולוקוויום

ההרצאה הראשונה בסדרה היא של ד"ר דן הנדל בנושא :Forest Primers.

 תקציר ההרצאה:

Trees and forests play a decisive role in the cultural imagination of civilizations around the world. Yet architects, planners, even landscape architects still see trees as objects to be added or subtracted, as backdrop, as decoration, as pretty much everything apart from what they really are – living organisms that can tell us much about our design and our cultures. The presentation, following a decade-long research that began with a chance encounter and then turned into field research, peer-review texts and a couple of exhibitions, asks why is this the case, and highlights ideas, practices, and projects that go beyond the use of forests as metaphor or alibi and undermine the forests vs. civilization paradigm, thus suggesting new ways in which the histories of architecture and forestry can inform each other.
