Adventures in Cinema Studies: in Memory of Annette Michelson
אירוע מיוחד לזכר אחת מחלוצות חקר הקולנוע, פרופ׳ אנט מייקלסון (אוניברסיטת ניו-יורק), אשר נפטרה אשתקד. הכנס יעסוק בתאוריה הקולנועית של פרופ' מייקלסון אודות האוונגרד הקולנועי. פרופ' מייקלסון הייתה ממייסדות תחום לימודי הקולנוע באקדמיה בעולם ומי שהקימה יחד עם רוזלינד קראוס את כתב העת החשוב October. לכנס בינלאומי זה יגיעו מיטב חוקרים מן העולם כדי לדון בקולנוע ניסיוני, ביניהם פרופ' תומאס גאנינג מאוניברסיטת שיקגו, פרופ' סטיוארט ליבמן מהאוניברסיטה העירונית בניו-יורק ופרופ' גרטרוד קוך מהאוניברסיטה הפתוחה בברלין. היום הראשון ישים דגש על הקשר בין פרקטיקה ותאוריה, ובסופו ישתתפו יוצרי קולנוע ואוונגרד ישראליים כדי לדון בעבודותיהם - ביניהם יגאל בורשטיין, ג'אד נאמן, מיכל אביעד ועמוס גיתאי. היום השני ייערך בסינמטק ובמהלכו יוקרנו סרטים של יוצרי קולנוע ניסיוני מרכזיים, וביניהם סטן ברקהג', מאיה דרן וג'ונאס מקאס. קולנוע האוונגרד הוא תחום מורכב ומאתגר. העיסוק בניסיוניות קולנועית אינה מקבלת במה מרכזית במחוזותינו בשנים האחרונות, ומטרת הכנס היא להוקיר את מורשתה של פרופ׳ מייקלסון, להדגיש את חשיבות התחום, ולהכווין את הדור הבא בפיתוחו.

An international conference in memory of one of the pioneers of film studies, Prof. Annette Michelson (New York University), who passed away last year. The conference deals with the cinematic theory of Prof. Michelson on the Cinematic avant-garde. Professor Michelson was one of the main scholars that introduced the field of Cinema studies in academia around the world and was the founder along with Rosalind Krauss of the important journal October. The conference will focus on avant-garde cinema, so the best researchers from around the globe will attend to discuss the field. Films of major avant-garde filmmakers will be screened at a special event at the cinematheque, hosted by the Steve Tisch School of Film and Television. The purpose of the conference is to honor Professor Michelson's legacy, to emphasize the importance of the field, and to guide the next generation in its development.
